This is a failure in dh_auto_test.

I know, but it's still a violation of a must directive in
Policy 4.2 in either case:

If build-time dependencies are specified, it must be possible to build the
package and produce
working binaries on a system with only essential and build-essential packages
installed and also
those required to satisfy the build-time relationships (including any implied
relationships).

Neither severity normal nor wontfix are appropriate for this.

The problem is here: the old cpuinfo library does not recognize new
CPUs. If you build on older machines, this test will pass.

New versions in stable allow this test to fail. But I do not think it is
worth a stable-pu to fix.

There are no new versions in stable. I'm reporting this after
trying in bookworm + proposed-updates as you can read in
the bug report.

Since this will not affect users anyway.

It may affect anybody trying to build the package from source,
which for Debian, being a free software distribution, is
considered an essential feature.

Thanks.
