Yes it works, and I had to use it recently to flush over hundred gigs of 
on-disk logs to log server. It was crucial and necessary. (It is like fsck
utility.)

I'm not doing autopkgtrest for it. It would be overkill and I have no
capacity. Such things should be tested upstream anyway.

Shipping small rarely used script does not require autopkgtest.

Just please ship this useful maintenance utility without which rsyslog
may not be repaired when it stops forwarding accumulated logs. 
There is no risk. (Why do I even have to convince after demonstrating
the exact situation when it is required?)
