Hi, if Debian would have active maintainers that would forward bug reports to the Authors or even help with real development work, it would make sense to send bug reports to Debian.
Unfortunately this is not the case and Debian did stop all activities a year ago. Instead of working on projects, Debian started to ignore their Social contract http://www.us.debian.org/social_contract and claims that free programs like star (that are under an aproved license) are unfree. I did see your report just by accident and had a look..... The current recognition code for DVD-Video Filesystem trees is far from bein correct. But this is the general problem if you believe other people who contribute Code. Doing this special thing correct would be hard to implement.
