In bug#1023007, we discovered that `luatex`'s JIT compiler generates code that uses SSE2 instructions, so `texlive-binaries` was changed to require `sse2-support`.
As I understood the situation it is not luatex, which does not work on your computer, but just the luajit... variants. So I could split them out into a new package, which is only needed by texlive-extra-utils, b/c this package tries to build luajit... formats. Seems to be a rather easy solution. Unfortunately we are late in the release cycle [1] and the change won't make it into the next stable release. Sorry! Hilmar [1] https://release.debian.org/testing/freeze_policy.html -- sigfault
