It was an unfortunate FTBFS due to new upstream release, not something related to this bug. Looking at the build log https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=kbuild&arch=amd64&ver=1%3A0.1.9998svn3572%2Bdfsg-1&stamp=1666608670&raw=0 There are 30 occurrences of "stray \ before", and all related to isntallation of build dependencies. Untagging kbuild from affects. G.
