Hi, We are about to start the ruby3.1 transition in unstable. While trying to rebuild ruby-zeitwerk with ruby3.1 enabled, the build failed. Relevant part of the build log (hopefully): > LoadError: cannot load such file -- /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/tmp/foo.rb > > <internal:/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb>:85:in > `require' > > <internal:/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb>:85:in > `require' > > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/debian/ruby-zeitwerk/usr/share/rubygems-integration/all/gems/zeitwerk-2.4.2/lib/zeitwerk/kernel.rb:34:in > `require' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/tmp/foo/bar/baz/zoo/woo.rb:1:in `<top (required)>' > > <internal:/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb>:85:in > `require' > > <internal:/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb>:85:in > `require' > > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/debian/ruby-zeitwerk/usr/share/rubygems-integration/all/gems/zeitwerk-2.4.2/lib/zeitwerk/kernel.rb:34:in > `require' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/lib/zeitwerk/test_require_interaction.rb:6:in > `assert_required' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/lib/zeitwerk/test_require_interaction.rb:97:in > `block (2 levels) in <class:TestRequireInteraction>' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:80:in `block (2 levels) in > with_setup' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:70:in `with_load_path' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:80:in `block in with_setup' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:61:in `block in with_files' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:54:in `chdir' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:54:in `with_files' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/support/loader_test.rb:76:in `with_setup' > /<<PKGBUILDDIR>>/test/lib/zeitwerk/test_require_interaction.rb:96:in > `block in <class:TestRequireInteraction>' > > 195 tests, 454 assertions, 4 failures, 3 errors, 0 skips > rake aborted! > Command failed with status (1): [ruby -w -I"test" > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/3.1.0/gems/rake-13.0.6/lib/rake/rake_test_loader.rb > "test/lib/test_gem_inflector.rb" "test/lib/test_inflector.rb" > "test/lib/test_real_mod_name.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_all_dirs.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_ancestors.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_autovivification.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_callbacks.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_collapse.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_concurrency.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_conflicting_directory.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_eager_load.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_exceptions.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_explicit_namespace.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_for_gem.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_ignore.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_logging.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_multiple.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_nested_root_directories.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_on_load.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_preload.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_push_dir.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_reloading.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_require_interaction.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_ruby_compatibility.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_shadowed.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_sti_old_school_workaround.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_top_level.rb" "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_unload.rb" > "test/lib/zeitwerk/test_unloadable_cpath.rb" -v] > > Tasks: TOP => default > (See full trace by running task with --trace) > ERROR: Test "ruby3.1" failed: The full build log is available from: https://people.debian.org/~terceiro/ruby3.1/17/ruby-zeitwerk/ruby-zeitwerk_2.4.2-2+rebuild1663008338_amd64-2022-09-12T18:45:39Z.build To reproduce this, you need to install ruby-all-dev >= 1:3.0+2. Depending on when you try this, it might mean installing ruby-all-dev from experimental, or if the transition has already started, a normal build on unstable will be enough. If you fail to reproduce, please provide a build log and diff it with mine so that we can identify if something relevant changed in the meantime.
