IMHO not: if setting up these flags were desirable in all cases then the better place to change the defaults would be the dm-crypt subsystem (ie the kernel). Note that if the --perf-* flag(s) improve performance on your system you can set them in /etc/crypttab too, so the wrappers pass them along when mapping the volume (like for discard). -- Guilhem.
