The distrib-Fortran directory appeared on SourceForge:

It links to the repo on GitHub where there is also one for Python:

Thanks for the investigation, it appeared on SourceForge also the Python
distribution:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/geographiclib/files/distrib-Python/

The GitHub repository seems to be not updated yet. I will package it
from SourceForge.

Thanks for welcoming me to maintain it under the GIS team, but as you
said if it's not a problem I would prefer for now to maintain it under the
Python team to not have to deal with a different policy (but I have
bookmarked it and at a quick look it seems that only patches are handled
in a different way), since I also doing some rust stuff and it's a bit
time comsuming.

Do you know if this bug is enough for ftp masters os should I open an
ITP for the new packaging of python-geographiclib? I must confess it's
the first time I adopt something that was in a different source package.

As separate bugreport for a proper ITP is better.

Of course if you want to be added as a co-maintainer to the package, you
have just to tell me.

You may want to coordinate with Antonio Valentino who also expressed interest in packaging python-geographiclib:

 https://lists.debian.org/debian-gis/2022/03/msg00008.html

I hope to be able to upload to experimental the 2.0a0 version during
this weekend.

Note that the Python versioning should be mangled to 2.0~a0.

Kind Regards,

Bas
