Unlike the original report, I don't get a chance to re-insert the dvd. I just get a failure after it ejects. Again, according to diff things are actually OK. Several times the failure coincided with a popup asking me what I wanted to do with a newly discovered device. I assume this is some automounting system. The k3b notes say to disable such things, but I don't know how (running KDE desktop). To circumvent this, I set eject after writing (settings | configure k3b | writing | advanced) to "Do not eject medium after write process." Despite this, the DVD was still ejected after writing. Perhaps that is a separate bug.
