I can't tell whether that means the eject is necessary between the burn and the verify. I suppose if the burn uses direct hardware access and the verify needs a mount then it might be. I was puzzled that one of the items (#3) in bug 73616 seemed to say that checking the "do not eject button" was effective. I think I forgot to mention one thing that might be relevant: my dvd drive can not be mounted via fstab.
