I did aks some people and it seems you're right. It only happens to me.

As I said, it might very well be a kernel problem instead.

Well I did, I do not have more information myself. Here's a list of the
facts that I have right now and that I thought I had listed in my bug
report:

- KDM starts correctly, but I cannot login, no matter which user. 
- Login on console works but gives several access denied error message
  on some keyboard tables.
- startx from the console does not work even without a local .xinitrc.
- No error message from X at all.

But since you said you cannot reproduce the bug would you care telling
me which kernel you use? Also do you use Xorg? I have version 7.0.14.
