About new windows centered after fast search is the setting in cinnamon control center "Windows > Behavior tab > change the setting on Location of newly opened windows" (they may not be the exact words, I have the Italian translation) About size is solved in latest nemo version and/or is not nemo issue but related to the window manager used and its settings.
