Package: www.debian.org Severity: normal There a several files in at least one polish language directory which are not translated, e.g., ./polish/News/1997/19970626a.wml . Its changelog says: revision 1.1 date: 2006/01/15 10:09:46; author: vandut; state: Exp; Sync with Polish Debian Documentory Project CVS.
While I could in principle remove these files I'd first like to understand their purpose. Reasons for removal: *) www.debian.org is i18n with fall back, so they waste space *) It requires unnecessary bandwith *) When updating the original, also translations need updating. Thus each change causes unnecessary work either for the person updating (if he is doing the updates in the translated files as well) or the translation team *) It presents a higher "translated" score than actually present and hides the remaining parts for translators Best would be, of course, if these files would actually be translated. I already posted this on the polish translation list and the www list, but got no reply so far. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.deb-7-grsec Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) -- Dr. Helge Kreutzmann [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dipl.-Phys. http://www.helgefjell.de/debian.php 64bit GNU powered gpg signed mail preferred Help keep free software "libre": http://www.ffii.de/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
