Gnome Bug 334066 (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334066) addresses the warning noted by Steve Greenland about the mission ~/.config/autostart directory. They have a patch to fix the problem. Not sure how long it will take to get the patch into a follow-on release.
It would probably work just as well to create the ~/.config/autostart directory in a script under /etc/gdm/Presession/ too.
