Package: linux-image-2.6.16-1-686 Version: 2.6.16-4 Severity: important
Did an 'apt-get upgrade' this morning, saw nothing unusual and shut down. On reboot, after LILO starts, we see: boot Loading linuxEBDA is big; kernel setup stack overlaps LILO second stage . ...it hangs at the first dot. Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work. To restore the system I restarted from a boot CD, mounted my Debian partition 'read-write'**, did a 'chroot' and downgraded to v2.6.16-3. The 'reportbug' version # above has been hand-tweaked. (**note to users: some boot CDs have 'mount' applets, but for safety those tend to mount your HD read-only, and you might need to run the command line 'mount', as root: % mount -t ext3 /dev/hda3 /mnt/hda3 # detail vary with system! ...then run 'lilo'.
