FWIW, I dug into this a bit and found that the problem was that the xdelta
file format includes information telling xdelta how much memory it needs to
allocate in order to read in the patch structure -- and when allocating
space for objects that include pointers, this is obviously going to differ
between 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.  This seems to me like a pretty
fatal flaw in the file format; though I'm not sure if this warrants removing
the package from the release (i.e., an RC bug).
