Package: python-numpy-doc
Version: 1:1.16.2-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
The documentation is not searchable when opening its search.html in a
local browser.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open file /usr/share/doc/python-numpy-doc/html/search.html in a web
browser (firefox-esr for me).
- Enter something into the search field for which there should be
results (like "linspace").
Outcome:
Site does not change. In the Browser Console (Firefox developer
tools), a message pops up saying
"ReferenceError: Search is not defined search.html:34:25".
Expected behaviour:
A list of search results should appear below the search field
(compare official web docs: https://docs.scipy.org/doc/numpy/search.html).
Additional info:
- The python-scipy-doc package is affected in the same way.
- The python3-doc package does not exhibit the same problem, even though
it seems to have been built using the same Sphinx version (1.8.4).
- A similar error appears to have been fixed here:
https://github.com/readthedocs/sphinx_rtd_theme/pull/672/commits/4b9053cb9e805211f227399d66d82361b3e2bf56
- Apparently, the official NumPy online docs are still built with Sphinx 1.7.2
(see https://docs.scipy.org/doc/numpy/search.html).
- In Debian 9, this problem did not occur.
Kind regards
t2
