(Posting here rather than debian-release as that is generally not used for interpreted language modules)
Upstream have released statsmodels 0.10.0. I am not yet sure whether to go straight for that or do 0.9.x first.
The upstream release notes specifically note incompatibilities for 0.8 -> 0.9 but not 0.9 -> 0.10, but I wouldn't take the latter as a promise that there aren't any:
