But it *removes* the files. I tried it as I wrote. There were .pyc files, and after dpkg --purge calbire the files were gone. So the only thing I can think of is that an *old* version (2017 around May or before - from the time stamp of the files you sent) did not properly clean up. My first contribution was July 2017, so before I took care of calibre. All I see is that now it properly removes the files ...
