Hi, my recording problems in this bug report, traced from gnome-sound-recorder to nm256-audio, are solved, as this OSS module is obsolete and a patch fixing the crippling problems with snd-nm256 is in ALSA-CVS as of last week (to be included in kernel 2.6.17, I hope). Thus, from my point of view, this bug can be closed.
The thing is, I feel a bit bad about "hijacking" this bug as the original reporter's problems, though solved/changed, seem have little to do with the kernel... So I leave the decision to you. Florian
