Hm, that is weird, because I can actually interrupt dhclient started by
ifup using ^C. Also, ifup does not block SIGINT or SIGTERM, and any
command it executes runs in the foreground.

How exactly are you starting ifup? From a Linux console, a terminal
emulator, via SSH, from inside screen or tmux? Any information might
help.
