I can't reproduce this either. I did this:

  rm .git/refs/dgit-intern/quilt-cache
  rm .git/logs/refs/dgit-intern/quilt-cache

  dgit --quilt=gbp --overwrite --damp-run push
  # ^ fails with the "no cached dgit view" message, as expected
  # therefore my rm's above were effective

  dgit --rm-old-changes -wdd --quilt=gbp sbuild -c build
  # my relevant sid chroot is called "build"
  dgit --quilt=gbp --overwrite --damp-run push

The latter command printed messages including:

dgit view: found cached (commit id 4dcfadb60855855fa909fb1544c22af63084b4c0)

and then the expected message:

dgit: HEAD specifies a different tree to rssh_2.3.4-6.dsc:

Are you sure that dgit's suggestion:

> dgit: perhaps tree changed since dgit build[-source] ?

was false ?

Ian.
