Well, if you're lucky you can find the trace in /var/log/messages after rebooting, otherwise you should setup a serial console or net console (I understand it may be difficult if you're not used to), first let's see if /var/log/messages helps. Oh, you could be able to see the trace on the console too (if you can switch console and even a picture of such trace would be useful). Oh, one more interesting information to see is the Xorg.0.log of a crash. Oh oh, can you also provide your xorg configuration? > > Also, if you remove all the synaptics driver stuff from xorg.conf then X > > works correctly? > > I'm aware of some problems about X crashing because of some video card > > incompatibility but the synaptics driver is not that invasive. > Correct, it loads if I use something else as the driver. > > I had just installed new drivers for mye video card so I too figured it > to be something of that manner, but I was only able to reproduce the kernel > panic with "synaptics" as the chosen driver. hm... does downgrading the package helps? damn! snapshot.debian.net seems to be broken. Maybe try this URL from time to time: http://snapshot.debian.net/xfree86-driver-synaptics Thanks -- mattia :wq! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
