I wasn't able to find anything relevant to the crash in /var/log/messages and everything freezes in the crash, so I just took a picture: www.likegyldig.net/crash.jpg

Might it some incompatibility that was provoked by the kernel? The Xorg.0.log doesn't give any reports on anything wrong happening when loading the driver, but I'll provide it anyway: www.likegyldig.net/xorg.log And here's the xorg.conf: www.likegyldig.net/xorg.conf It's mainly generated by fglrxconfig and loosely edited by me afterwards. > > > Also, if you remove all the synaptics driver stuff from xorg.conf then X > > > works correctly? > > > I'm aware of some problems about X crashing because of some video card > > > incompatibility but the synaptics driver is not that invasive. > > Correct, it loads if I use something else as the driver. > > > > I had just installed new drivers for mye video card so I too figured it > > to be something of that manner, but I was only able to reproduce the kernel > > panic with "synaptics" as the chosen driver. > > hm... does downgrading the package helps? damn! snapshot.debian.net > seems to be broken.
