Can you please explain ? On the question of sincerity: these messages are triggered by humans, even if the wording is a template. I don't doubt that the human team members consider the necessity for any particular MIA enquiry to d-private a matter for regret. (You did say "whether it is sincere or not" but I am left guessing as to your non-sincerity-related reasons, which seem obscure to me.) "We regret to report..." is IMO a standard and appropriate formulation for conveying bad news of any kind. Would you care to suggest an alternative phrasing ?
