Well, they are not "invalid" it's just that they are overriding each
other.

It's due to your pbuilderrc. It adds an --arch flag to DEBOOTSTRAPOPTS
following the content of an ARCH environment variable.
That means that you either remove that part from your pbuilderrc, or
stop using the --architecture flag of pbuilder and instead use ARCH.
