I just had a look at the dgit history of pcre2, and it looks like you're using a pure git merge-based workflow. I'd like to encourage you to explicitly follow the workflow described in dgit-maint-merge(7), which is essentially a cleaned-up version of what you're already doing. In particular, that manpage provides sample text for debian/source/patch-header which would have given Jeremy a way in, and perhaps avoided the filing of this bug. -- Sean Whitton
