Another option could be choosing a custom image such as Kenshi Muto's sarge image with 2.6.15 kernel: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstallerCustomImages Stéphanie, beware that this is no more an official image and thus coming without the usual support put by Debian in stable releases. But I think this is probably the only way to have a sarge install with a more recent kernel to support your hardware.
