while building a local backport of tigervnc to jessie, I noticed that some of the build dependencies were too lax. At least the following are now required: === Begin === x11proto-core-dev (>= 7.0.31), x11proto-randr-dev (>= 1.5.0), xtrans-dev (>= 1.3.5), libxfont-dev (>= 1:2.0.1), libtool (>= 2.4.6-2), === End === Also debian/gbp.conf doesn't set the compression method for the upstream tarball, so git-buildpackage fails with a less than perfect error message by default.
