Did hplip detect it just fine?  If it did, chances are sane will automagically
work now *as long as you use the hpaio sane backend*, so there is no need
for a hotplug USB map.  Or is there?  If so, we will have to add the list by
hand, as the HPLIP-distributed model database does NOT have USB ids in there
anywhere...

In which case, I am inclined to forward this upstream for HP to deal with :P

I.e. scanning should work through hpaio.
