Package: multipath-tools-boot Version: 0.6.4-1 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts
Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from 'jessie'. It installed fine in 'jessie', then the upgrade to 'stretch' fails because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a Breaks+Replaces relation. See policy 7.6 at https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): Preparing to unpack .../multipath-tools-boot_0.6.4-1_all.deb ... Unpacking multipath-tools-boot (0.6.4-1) over (0.5.0-6+deb8u2) ... dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/multipath-tools-boot_0.6.4-1_all.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/etc/init.d/multipath-tools-boot', which is also in package multipath-tools 0.5.0-6+deb8u2 Preparing to unpack .../multipath-tools_0.6.4-1_amd64.deb ... invoke-rc.d: could not determine current runlevel invoke-rc.d: policy-rc.d denied execution of stop. Unpacking multipath-tools (0.6.4-1) over (0.5.0-6+deb8u2) ... In case it does matter, this was observed during a wheezy->jessie->stretch upgrade test. cheers, Andreas
