If this patch was dropped, GNOME Classic mode would always show icons on the desktop. There is no way to override it anymore via the gsettings key. For the normal GNOME Shell mode, the gsettings key is still read. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
