Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation? The MUMPS programming code files for GT.M
have a .m extension. If I try to edit these files now,
the white space is greatly expanded in ways I am not sure how to describe.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? If I change the file extension to .txt, it works fine.
   * What was the outcome of this action? I either have to change the
extension or abandon using nano
   * What outcome did you expect instead? The files could be edited just like I
have for years and just like I am editing this file.
