The current system works in the following way: - applications declare support for opening or editing files of specific MIME types, and how they should be called to do so - Galeon queries the MIME type of an object and matches it against applications supporting 1/ opening this MIME type 2/ editing this MIME type and then launches the application you select in the way the application said it should be called The GIMP bug I mentionned is that the application descriptor does not list this MIME type at all. It seems you would want Galeon to offer some sort of override of this system, permitting you to select any application, changing the way it is called, to open any type of file you click on.
