I tried the .deb you linked above but it still fails with the same
error reported by Alessandro. The output directory is still prefixed
with the current working directory instead of using gbp.conf/export-dir
as an absolute path.

reproduce this anymore:

$ python gbp/scripts/buildpackage.py --git-ignore-new
