I just uploaded 7.0.0 of this package to experimental. Android SDK v7.0.0 has one less circular dependency, so it'll be a lot easier to build. We aim to entirely replace 6.0.1 in stretch before the freeze, so that's what we're focused one.
As for build-profiles and staged uploads, we'd love help with that since we're still figuring it out. It should only be required for android-platform-system-core now, android-platform-build should no longer need build-profiles. .hc
