Package: liblog4j2-java-doc Version: 2.0~beta9-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I tried to run eclipse, and got an error "Unrecognized VM option 'UseStringDeduplication'" Turns out eclipse-4.6 requires java 8, and default-jre on Debian stable is java7. This package dependency chain unnecessarily causes default-jre to be installed, causing default java (/etc/alternatives) to be java 7. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I uninstalled this package for now, there's some update-alternatives thing if I really needed to have this documentation installed, but I am not installing jre (and jdk!) version 7, and its documentation!, just to get liblog4j2-java-doc installed!!! * What was the outcome of this action? I removed liblog4j2-java-doc to solve the bloat. * What outcome did you expect instead? liblog4j2-java-doc should be installable without depending on default-java! Thanks :) Zenaan *** End of the template - remove these template lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.5 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.6.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=zen.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=zen.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to zen.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)
