This has worked until today when the +b1 bin-nmu of the pyqt5 packages updated Qt from 5.5.1 to 5.6.1. I'm aware of #824173 which also describes a problem with Qt 5.6, but a local build of calibre with the upstream patch mentioned in that bug doesn't solve this problem.
