I have two monitors, both 1280x1024, the right one is set as primary. While the screen was locked, I accidentally pulled the left one's power cord. Not noticing this, I tried to unlock. Despite poking (pressing ctrl, moving the mouse) the unlock screen didn't pop up; every a few seconds there was a message "authentication via pam cancelled". Only ctrl-alt-F1 to switch to a text VT and "killall xscreensaver" allowed me to regain control of the session.
