Hi Jamil,

Thanks for your interest in the Debian development process! Any
changes in stable must "bake" in unstable first. So in this case,
although it is not urgent in unstable, but rather in stable, it still
has to go through unstable first. The following link explains more:

There are also IRC channels where you can ask questions about Debian
development without getting your hand bitten off. I don't frequent
them so I cannot give you the link off-hand. The entry to Debian
development is low and there are many ways you can start helping out.
I'd suggest looking through  https://www.debian.org/devel/join/  and
https://wiki.debian.org/Community  and
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianDevelopment . Don't get scared by all
the bureaucracy and formalities described, you can do a lot also
without all the rubber stamps.
