Hi Faheem,

The borg man page was written by Debian, or so Thomas Waldmann tells
me. But this is not mentioned anywhere on it. It should be mentioned.

1) why? do you have any policy requirement where a manpage written should mention who and where wrote it?

It's just standard attribution. If something is not part of upstream, it's customary to say so. Avoids confusion.

2) where? where did Thomas say so?

On IRC. #borgbackup on Freenode.

3) is an autogenerated with help2man manpage even copyrightable?

Was that how it was created? The whole thing?

anyway, starting with borgbackup 0.28.2 the manpage is *not* written by Debian, nor with the autogenerated help2man stuff.

Now (as suggested by me), the manpage is created starting from their rst files, that were on the git repository so long before Debian introduced the package.

Ok.

So this bug seems to be invalid to me.

Ok. It was just a suggestion. Like I said, it's good to give credit where credit is due.

                                                    Regards, Faheem Mitha

(of course feel free to reopen if you don't agree with me, and in that case
patches would be so appreciated!)

cheers!

Gianfranco
