Package: reiserfsprogs Version: 3.6.19-1 The problem is simple. For ext2 and ext3 partition, the fsck program displays a volume label, if one exists - example:
BOOT: clean, 62/297256 files, 60311/594405 blocks All my partitions have labels (hint: "mke2fs -L") so at boot I can easily see which partitions are fsck-ed. But for reiserfs v.3.6 partitions, the fsck program never displays labels. I have already found a solution - it has been discussed in the Gentoo Bugzilla, and I have sucessfully contacted upstream developers. Please see: "Could reiserfsprogs display volume labels when doing fsck upon boot?" [1] Bug #109155 in Gentoo Bugzilla http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109155 [2] reiserfs-list@namesys.com http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.reiserfs.general/16553 [3] Four lines long patch for reiserfsprogs-3.6.19 http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=70573&action=view The change is cosmetic, and the Vitaly Fertman (the developer) already agreed to apply this patch in the upcoming reiserfsprogs-3.6.20. Please consider if it may be valuable to apply the patch even for reiserfsprogs-3.6.19.
