The ironic thing about this is that the "autopoint" package already contains old versions of gettext files:
tar tvf /usr/share/gettext/archive.dir.tar.xz so it's funny that people always invent new and exciting ways to duplicate code :-) Closing this bug myself. Thanks a lot for the explanations.
