Are you sure it's a good idea for sdcc to provides: c-compiler?

I know that it is one, but it's not necessarily a swappable package
for anything that needs 'c-compiler' in debian and thus depends on
it. What exactly is that provides used for, I wonder?

I note that bcc and tcc and gcc-avr also provide it, as well as gcc,
clang and all the cross-compilers.

There seem to be 8 packages in the archive tha thave this dep:
icecc, ikiwiki-hosting-web, intercal, ksplice, laby, libinline-c-perl, libtool,
pmk

How many of those work with sdcc instead of gcc?

The string c-compiler does not appear in policy, so I must admit that
I'm not quite sure what exactly it is intended to mean/be used for.

Is there anything that does not work because sdcc does not have this provides?
