Thank you for the upstream fix. While I realize that you prefer to get a whole new upstream release into jessie, I wonder if there's any reason not to backport the relevant changes [1-3] to the nss-pam-ldapd_0.9.4-3 source? I rebuilt the package with these patches applied on my test system and it seems to work just fine.
