The fact that a fix for an issue that's present on i386 also fixes the build on other architectures (even when there never was a build before), doesn't mean that the fix is unsuitable for jessie. I meant that changes that are only needed to make the package build on architectures where it didn't before are usually not accepted during the freeze. You shouldn't try to make the build fail on other architectures if the fix makes them work there. Also, the result on kfreebsd doesn't really matter anymore as far as the release is concerned, as kfreebsd won't be part of the jessie release. > I'm happy to split the this into 2 bugs and 2 uploads. So you should indeed create 2 uploads, one fixing the tmpdir issue (without breaking other builds on purpose), based on version 0.21.1-1, and the other one with other fixes (possibly also the new upstream version). As there is already a newer upstream version in unstable, and the change to the first version (destined for jessie) is very small, you should file a pre-approval unblock request to get permission to upload the fix to testing-proposed-updates. The upload should only happen once it's approved (I'm happy to sponsor the upload if that's necessary). In the future, you really should avoid doing uploads of new upstream versions to unstable during the freeze (they can go to experimental if you want).
