Indeed, I had set location determined by WM and this setting came from
the old days when I used IceWM. Switching "location" to another value
gives the correct screen size. With this, the bug becomes insignificant
for me.

Fulscreen window appears in upper left corner with size 200x200 px. I have
reproduced this bug on intel and nvidia non-free xorg driver, in Openbox and
within Xorg without window manager. I have also run geeqie as another usere
with empty ~/.config/geeqie/ - the same effect.
I can confirm the bug. It seems that this went through the release
process.
However, it is not an important bug so I will lower it to normal.
The problem seems to be the setting in the third tab: "Location:
Determined by Window Manager". If you use any other setting for full
screen location, the full screen works.
