Unfortunately no. Upstream is not responsive and hiding to be more precise. I could debug it a bit and it seems the key press handling part somehow doesn't get the shift-up event. There are two workarounds. Use caps-lock if you want a shift-event (but it doesn't work for every keypress) or switch window focus for de-shift. To be more strange, it happens with GNOME3, Xfce4 and KDE4, but AFAICR not with Enlightenment DR17.
