Package: spamassassin Version: 3.1.0a-2 Severity: important Hello,
I have use spamassassin in client/server mode. Unfortunately, sometimes I need to configure network after the boot up (laptop, mobile usage). But at boot time, the daemon does not start with the message: Fri Nov 25 13:29:43 2005: Starting SpamAssassin Mail Filter Daemon: [3669] error: Error creating a DNS resolver socket: Network is unreachable at /usr/share/perl5/Mail/SpamAssassin/DnsResolver.pm line 202. Fri Nov 25 13:29:49 2005: Error creating a DNS resolver socket: Network is unreachable at /usr/share/perl5/Mail/SpamAssassin/DnsResolver.pm line 202. And this sucks... spamc continues to "work" but does not filter the spam. IMO the start of such network-relying components of spamd should be delayed untill it is connected to for the first time, and so it should initially start with or without network.
