Can you try with HOSTCC=gcc-3.3 just to check and confirm, with plain make.
Thsi will not produce a working module, since insmoding a module built with
3.3 into a 4.0 built kernel is not a nice thing to do, and should be avoided
preferably.

I still believe this is a now deprecated gcc option, as well as possibly the
mess-up of the kernel headers in 2.6.14-x. Will have a more detailed look
tomorrow.
